Today I’d like to talk about nerves. When we’re out of our comfort zone our body releases adrenaline to get us back to where we feel comfortable, by avoiding the situation altogether or by interfering with how we speak and act. So one way around this problem is to enlarge our comfort zone. When I was 12 I delivered my first speech to the whole school on the hand grenade and then did it regularly for the next year or so, the very first time I felt very nervous indeed but then the more I did it the less nervous and the more confident I became. So if you need more practice and want to feel less nervous I’d encourage you to seek out opportunities either within your local community or for a charity or why not visit Toastmasters International?
