Richard is a London based sales and marketing consultant who has worked in a wide variety of markets in Europe, North America and Asia. He has spent most of his career working for British Airways and has sat on a number of boards including airlines, tour operators and Chambers of Commerce. He now runs his own consultancy, coaching and moderating business, Tailwind Advisory, alongside his work as an Associate with Clearwater Advisers.

James McCullough

James McCullough is a highly experienced consultant with extensive expertise in coaching, training and assessment techniques. He works with individuals and teams to achieve personal growth, development and ultimately adds greater value to their role. James has extensive experience in cross-cultural management development having designed and delivered programmes around the world. He has worked with a wide variety of clients including Kleinwort Benson Private Bank, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Royal Bank of Scotland, Rabobank, Virgin Direct, BT, Rover/BMW, Mowlem, New Look, Energizer, and Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Through his knowledge and study of psychology, James has a particular specialisation in raising the performance of individuals and teams. He does this by helping people better understand themselves, uncovering motivational issues and facilitating effective problem-solving. His first career was as an officer in the British Army during which time he designed and ran training courses for recruits and potential officers with a focus on leadership development and teambuilding. In addition to an Honours degree in Economics and Politics, James has recently successfully completed a Masters degree in Organisational Psychology from Birkbeck College, University of London and also a psychological counselling course. James is married and enjoys a wide range of outdoor pursuits.

Lou Walker

Lou Walker has been a behavioural development consultant and trainer for six years in the investment banking, construction, pharmaceutical, transport and media sectors. She spends 30 per cent of her time delivering leadership development programmes and business writing skills courses, but she is versatile and also has broad experience designing and delivering a range of management skills courses, performance management systems, assessment centres and training needs analyses.

Lou tailors every course to clients needs. Recent clients are property, manufacturing, financial, computing and media sectors; participants have been directors and senior managers through to graduate recruits and secretaries. Topics include report writing, PR writing skills, general business writing and letter writing. Her approach is practical rather than ‘chalk and talk’. Typically participants work on samples of their own writing throughout the session to reinforce their own good habits as well as eradicate the bad ones.

Before becoming a trainer, Lou was a freelance editor and PR consultant for eight years. She wrote and edited customer magazines, newspapers and employee publications for Whitbread, SmithKline Beecham, McDonald’s, Samworth Brothers, ICI Paints, Courage plc and challenge Business

James Orrell

James is an organisational consultant who helps clients reach the often hidden human dynamics that affect performance and impact the bottom line. His focus is on helping leaders understand their roles leadership and how to align their people and structures to execute strategy in changing environments.

With a broad experience of organisational development across a number of sectors, James has worked both as an executive line manager and consultant. He has also delivered investor facing programmes and change management projects in FTSE 100 companies and private equity-backed enterprises. Prior to this, he held leadership roles in the British Army.

James’s training in organisational consultancy is at the Tavistock Clinic in London. He has a BA (Hons) in Politics from the University of Exeter.

James Mayhew

James specialises in communication training. This includes training for pitches and presentations, business development, negotiation, influencing key stakeholders, meeting the media and interview coaching. He has delivered courses and seminars for over 18 years across Europe and the Middle East for companies, governments, institutions and business schools.

After four years of military service in the British Army during the mid-1990s, James started his training career delivering negotiation and pitch/presentation training for most of the City of London’s financial and professional service firms. This included work on board-level presentations, AGMs and IPO roadshow presentations.

Recent clients have included: Citi, Deutsche Bank, ING, JP Morgan, Zurich Insurance and Cass, Imperial College, London and Warwick Business Schools.

James holds a Batchelor’s degree from Brown University (USA) and afterwards attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst prior to starting his military and professional career. He qualified as a Registered Representative with the SFA.

Guy Ruddle

Guy has a unique perspective on modern video communications, having been both a multi-award winning broadcaster and the man behind the UK’s leading online newspaper video product.

Guy spent 15 years at the BBC as a producer, reporter and presenter of business programmes. He interviewed the majority, if not all, of the business leaders of the day along with a range of senior politicians and other opinion formers.

He then moved on to become Editor of Telegraph TV, where he was responsible for the development of what was widely regarded as the leading online newspaper video offering in the UK. Steve Adams

Steve trained as an accountant before joining IBM he worked with British Leyland as a Systems Analyst. He retired from IBM after 25 years’ service in a wide variety of marketing roles including leading the worldwide team at Shell. In 2001 Ross Perot asked Steve to take a leadership role with Perot System which led to Steve leading the team of 1,200 responsible for providing UBS Investment Bank worldwide with all their IT systems. In this role, Steve became a client of Clearwater and formed an enduring friendship with James McBrien, Clearwater’s owner. He is a senior executive with significant global business experience. Skilled in strategy development and implementations, achieving results within a variety of industries and organisations across both the private and public sectors. Detailed experience in governance, transition, strategic partnerships, IT strategy global client management and rather oddly, payment systems.

Delia Lloyd

Delia Lloyd is a London-based communications expert with over 20 years of experience as a writer, editor and coach. She brings together an unusual mix of rigorous, analytic thinking with an authentic, accessible voice.

Delia holds a PhD. in political science from Stanford University and has taught public policy and international development at MIT and The University of Chicago. During 2001-2, she was a Senior Development Adviser at the United States Treasury Department, where she was a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow. Most recently, Delia was the Head of Policy and Research Insight at BBC Media Action, the BBC’s International development charity, where she was in charge of commissioning, editing and disseminating all policy and research outputs. A seasoned journalist, Delia’s reporting and commentaries have appeared in outlets including The New York Times, The Financial Times, The Washington Post and The BBC World Service. Delia has training in coaching, mentoring and creative facilitation. She blogs about adulthood at her highly popular personal blog, RealDelia, and is a visiting fellow at the Oxford Institute for Population Ageing.

Delia offers coaching and workshops in writing, speaking and leadership communications for commercial, non-profit and academic audiences. Clients include the BBC, London Business School, The London School of Economics and Oxford University.

James McBrien

James is the lead consultant and founder of Clearwater Advisors Ltd. He has spent a substantial part of his career developing people, working with CEOs and middle management groups in the UK, France, Hong Kong, Canada, Dubai and South Africa. His strengths lie in unlocking the natural personality of his clients when they communicate in order to make them more engaging and effective. His recent clients include ABN Amro, Apax Partners, BBC, Hunton & Williams, Perot Systems, Royal Bank of Scotland, Shell International, UBS and Visa International. Prior to becoming a consultant, James facilitated performance-raising culture change programmes with The Pacific Institute. His first career was as an officer in the Irish Guards. In his five years, in addition to leading several expeditions, he also served on operational tours in both Northern Ireland and Bosnia. Whilst in Bosnia he was in charge of briefing the British General on media issues and co-ordinating the international media coverage of the first post-war elections. He was born in 1968 and graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from Anglia Polytechnic in 1990. He has run the London Marathon three times. He also finds time to pursue a wide range of interests including scuba diving, sailing, skiing, photography and guitar. He is married with three children and lives in Sevenoaks.
